Is Richey's Roadhouse on Edgemont Rd still open?

Quick question for anybody who lives out that way or drives Edgemont Rd regularly. I was looking up places to eat for some out-of-town family coming up for the lake this month, and Yelp has Richey's Roadhouse marked as permanently closed. I haven't been in a while, so I didn't know if that's accurate or if somebody just never updated the listing. Yelp has been wrong about local places before. I drove past on my way home from Narrows Park and couldn't tell anything from the road. No sign I could read at that speed, and I didn't want to slow down and pull in just to look. 😅

If it did close, does anybody know when and why? I'm not asking to stir anything up. I just always wonder what happens to the people who worked there. A place like that employs a decent number of cooks, servers, dishwashers and a couple of managers, and in a town this size every one of those jobs matters. If the staff got scattered, I'd like to know whether other places around the lake are hiring, because I hear from people looking for work more than you'd think.

For those who ate there, what did you like about it? I'd like to know what we're missing before I write it off for my family. And if it is gone, what do you think ends up in that spot? A new restaurant, a bar, a drive-thru, or does it sit empty for two years like so many buildings do? I'd love to see something go in that brings real year-round jobs and not just summer seasonal ones.

Last thing, and it's a little gloomy. Which places around here would you hate to see close next? I'm talking about the ones that always seem quiet when you drive by, but you'd miss them if they went. Maybe if we name them, a few more of us will actually go eat there before it's too late. 🍽️

Yelp calls half the places around the lake closed and keeps the ones that actually shut down going for years, so I wouldn't trust it either way. Call before you plan a family dinner around it. I drove past a few weeks back and the lot looked pretty empty, but that doesn't prove anything. 🤷

As for what goes in there, my guess is it sits empty for a while and the owner still gets a property tax bill on it. Then somebody opens a vape shop or a storage place. I'd love to be wrong.

On the places we'd miss, it's anywhere that's dead on a Tuesday at 1pm. Eat at the quiet ones on a weekday, not just lake weekends, or they won't be around to recommend.
