Was digging around and found an old r/Arkansas thread from 2019 where a visitor asked why Greers Ferry isn't as busy as Hamilton, DeGray or Norfork. The answers were high water that year, not many restaurants, no nightlife, rural, dry county so you need a private club membership, and a few people saying the quiet is the whole point.
Seven years on, I'm wondering which of those still hold. The high water was just that year. The rest still sounds about right to me. Out by Devils Fork on a Sunday with the dog I can still park without circling, and I'll admit I like that. But I also wish there was one decent place to eat on that side of the lake that stays open past 8.
The property tax side of me also wonders if a few more visitors would help the tax base or just push assessments up on the rest of us. Honestly not sure.
Where do you land? More people, or leave it alone?
Take care
